Welcome to our website which is all about rebreather diving in the Balearics and the home of the newly formed club for ISC Megalodon Rebreather owners and of other specialty dive clubs (deep diving, wreck hunting, cave diving, wreck penetration...). The Balearics have a wide reputation as a dive destination for recreational SCUBA divers. What less people know is that they are also a paradise for technical diving. There are several wrecks in pristine offshore waters in the deep channels between the islands and along their beautiful coastlines. Some wrecks are still unexplored being outside sport and coral diver depth limits while others are yet to be located. Mallorca is like a swiss-cheese, rich in caves, where a lot of them are dry or have been dry, giving stalactites and stalagmites the possibility to form. The most popular tourist dry cave is "Cova des Drac" - not to be confused with the flooded cave having the same name. Mallorca is also the home of the longest subaquatic cave system in Europe. Experienced cave divers claim that this is the prettiest cave in Europe, with haloclines and marvellous formations. Some of these caves are protected and are still undergoing research and exploration and any form of commercial exploitation is neither permitted nor welcome. There are sunken submarines and famous WWII wrecks like those of the two Italian frigates Impetuoso and Pegaso resting at 95 meters depth in the Canal de Menorca. The history tells that during the ceasefire between the allied forces and Italy in 1943 these frigates went to the neutral Mallorca for protection. However, in Mallorca they were met with a cold shoulder and commanded to head for open sea within 24 hours. This caused the shipmasters to make the decision to sink the frigates rather than surrender and so they did. We sincerely hope through our club and forum activities to make a positive contribution to the safety and enjoyment of all divers in the Balearics especially those diving with a rebreather or diving in a mixed team with a rebreather diver.
